About Us

Upper Cumberland Pride (UCP) is a non-profit non-political group operated exclusively for educational and charitable purposes. Our purpose is to address, educate, coordinate, and provide aid to the LGBTQIA+ community of the Upper Cumberland Region of Middle Tennessee.

UCP unites the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and allied communities in support of the inclusion, dignity, and equality of all people. We build safe, inclusive communities in Cookeville, Tennessee, and the surrounding Upper Cumberland region, accepting and valuing individuals of all sexual orientations or gender identities.

Our core mission is to strengthen equality and increase awareness around issues important to our community such as health, safety, and marriage equality. UCP celebrates the individuality and diversity of every person as we all strive for acceptance from parents, friends, and society at large. We do this by providing opportunities for positive visibility in and around the community; providing a safe environment that permits the expression of diverse perspectives; and education for the purpose of cultivating harmony within the community.

Upper Cumberland Pride is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations. Our programs include sending out ambassadors to raise social consciousness about the LGBTQ+ community on a local level and holding fundraising events in order to provide education and/or assistance. To maximize our impact on current efforts, we collaborate with other non-profit organizations in the region.
